Redemptively loving and serving each other and our whole community... isn't that what real church is? I've really moved past focusing solely on the method in which we engage people with the Gospel. I definitely think it must be relational, allowing Christ's love to spill out, but whether this is done in the context of a monastic community, house church, emergent church, or even a more traditional church... I really don't think that's the point.
The point is... what is the nature of the Gospel that we teach and live?
Is it a Gospel of self-effort, guilt, and obligation? Is it a Gospel that talks about Christ's death for our sins, but never displays the active, living Christ that is continually at work in us and through us? Show me that church and I won't care where they live or what kind of songs they sing. I'll see Jesus... what else matters?
