Disciples Church - Values

Disciples Church is...


Simple.
Our lives can be overwhelmingly complicated. The life and message of Christ is not.

“For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified…”

Reproducing. 
We believe a true disciple is a reproducing disciple and a healthy church is a reproducing church.

“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea, and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
- Acts 1:8 ESV

Discipling. 
Our momentum is fueled by intentional apprenticeship - all disciples investing their lives in the lives of others.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…”
 - Matthew 28:19-20 ESV

Missional. 
Simply put, we are sent. God has intentionally sent us into our social networks and spheres of influence. Wherever we go, we are on mission.

“...The Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound.”
 - Isaiah 61:1 ESV

Incarnational. 
The life of a true disciple is the life of Christ. By the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, we are bearers of Christ and his mission is our mission.

“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me…”
 - Galatians 2:20 ESV

Relational.
We continually seek to build new relationships with pre-disciples so we can bring them into our lives and communities where Christ is glorified.

“A woman from Samaria came to draw water. Jesus said to her  ‘Give me a drink’.”
 - John 4:7 ESV

Communal.
We live in community because we were created in the image of a communal God. We cannot effectively know God, function as the church, or reproduce disciples outside of Christ-led community.

“For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ”.
 - 1 Corinthians 12:12 ESV
