Some days are crap. And sometimes that feeling lasts through the whole week, right? Ever had a month of Mondays? I once had about 10 years worth of them in a row. Do you know what helps when life isn't all that fantastic? Matthew 28:19. Huh? The "Go and make disciples" verse? Great. Just one more thing to add to my schedule! Not really.
This verse can be interpreted "As you are going about your daily life, make disciples." Not "Quit having a life and make disciples" or "On top of all the other stuff you need to do, make disciples." This is saying that making disciples is something that is a natural result of living a life led by Christ. As you go through your day, led by Christ, he brings disciple-making opportunities to you.
What if you woke up tomorrow morning and prayed "God, please show me how I can be obedient to your call to make disciples today." Not just on Sunday, at home team, or in your CO2, but in your every day life. At home, work, school, soccer games, etc. Ask God to open your eyes to the opportunities to be a discipler today. I guarantee that it will be harder to have a crappy day when you realize that everything is spiritual. Everything we experience in our day has meaning when we live on mission with Christ.
Grabbed by grace,
Tim
